I plan on keeping the calories at 1500 until I get that scale and can get a point of reference and how fast weight is coming off and adjust from there. **crosses fingers that the scale goes high enough**

Robyn, you crack me up with your correction posts lol

As Ever
MeZeusmeatballhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03841730555706808620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3823908020431638884.post-45004801682288957132008-01-18T11:38:00.000-05:002008-01-18T11:38:00.000-05:00Okay, maybe refugee camps wasn't the right term. ...Okay, maybe refugee camps wasn't the right term. POW camps I think was what my doctor was referring to. Okay, just had to make that quick correction. He just used the words, "camps" and "WWII."

I don't even know what I'm talking about. I'm going to shut up now.
:)Aunt Melvie Brownies and Morehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01507070234514774082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3823908020431638884.post-89427231847654921702008-01-18T10:56:00.000-05:002008-01-18T10:56:00.000-05:00I agree with Sandy! I don't really know why all o...I agree with Sandy! I don't really know why all of the info out there about having a particular number of calories a day is what we absolutely have to go by. I mean, I know that we need to keep our bodies as healthy as possible while dieting, but why, then would my doctor be telling me to have no more than 1000 calories in a day - and even telling me that it is OK to drop down to 800 for a week at a time in order to "save up" for a special occasion? He told me that during WWII, the refugees in the camps survived on 800 calories or less every day, doing hard labor. I'm not sure where he got the info about that, but he's a smart old doctor, so I believe him. And it makes me think about some of those survival shows that my husband LOVES to watch - -like Survivorman. In that show, he finds a bug here, and a bug there, and gets very few calories a day. He is able to survive, right?! I know that that is not a good way to treat a body, though. But, when I think about some near-anorexic people that I know, I know that they do not get enough calories in a day, and they are seemingly fine. For example, my neighbor accross the street from me pretty much never eats. She kind of likes to brag about it I think. She will tell me things like, "Oh...you made lasagna? Oohh, that sounds good. But I'm full. I've already had a bowl of lettuce today." It makes me CRAZY, but I think to myself, "She's energetic. She's been doing this for years, and doesn't seem to be unhealthy." Another example is my husband's grandmother. She never eats. Sometimes she'll have a few crackers for breakfast, and a piece of cheese for lunch. I literally never see the woman eat. Now, she is not the greatest example, becasue she is not very "healthy" per se. She is anemic, and has osteoporosis. She is also 75 years old, though. But, she does go to an exercise class every day of her life, and also goes on 2 mile long walks very often with her brother. How, then, does she do that with so few calories per day? Heck if I know.
Anyway, Sandy is probably right about the fact that if you feel okay, and are able to function without feeling sluggish or hungry, then you are most likely going to be just fine. Then again, 1500 calories a day does seem kind of low for a big guy like you. So, I don't know. It's a tough call. I think you should do what you think is best. I think it is SO good that you are reading, and researching - in order to make yourself as healthy as possible! That, in itself, is awesome!
Okay, I think I've written enough. It's just so tempting. I love to talk, and am pretty bored right now! Typing out big long comments just happens. I can't help it!
Hope you have a great Friday, followed by a great weekend! Keep up the GREAT work!Aunt Melvie Brownies and Morehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01507070234514774082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3823908020431638884.post-14713371396466272132008-01-18T08:24:00.000-05:002008-01-18T08:24:00.000-05:00Botzz, excuse me, Tony, Good job yesterday. I ate ...Botzz, excuse me, Tony, Good job yesterday. I ate more after dinner last night, "just to make my calories" and I dont feel too good about that this morning. I think we need to trust our bodies. They will let us know. I think you are doing an amazing job, and meeting your goal one day and being under the next is fine. It's called calorie cycling, as long as at the end of the week, you are close to your goal. For my first week, after averaging the days, I came in 300 calories a day short. I'm very content, hunger wise and otherwise, have plenty of energy, so do what feels best for you. Remember, there are a lot of opinions out there, but you know your body best. Keep it up, you are doing an excellent job!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
