Day 90

Another day down and another pound dropped (hopefully) nothing too spectacular to post today, Sunday was a decent day calorie wise, I am still feeling good and nothing negative to report, got a walk in with my daughter while it was nice out and played in the yard for a bit tossing a ball around. over all a nice easy day.

We rented another flick for the evening, the movie was Hitman, it was ok, nothing great, but I Had an Idea it wouldn't be going in so I enjoyed it, I mean it was made after a video game how good could it have been? The stars of the movie were that dude Timothy Olyphant (he was in "a man apart) and some Russian chick named Olga Kurylenko who I never seen before, she was pretty good in it (a hotty too) for someone I had never seen her before, but the guy would have been played much better by Jason Statham (from Driver) in my opinion, like I said, it was just an ok movie.

Just a cool pic from the movie

Olga Kurylenko from the movie, she had a cool Dragon tattoo on her cheek.

The menu for the day is as follows...

Day 89

Maybe one of the worse days for the intake since starting, not because of the calories, because they were in fact under my limit, but because of the spacing between eating and what I ate. as stated in my last post I went to Long Island to pick up some seats for my car, this fact messed me up in all kinds of ways. I started out good but then I left the house and the journey began, we got to the guys house in Long Island and he had maybe 7 whole Mustangs there he was selling, and a few junk ones and a race car in the garage, lots of eye candy for me. the seats I got are in great shape and out of a 2001 Mustang GT (mine is a 1997) the guy was a real moron, but hey I don't have to be his friend right? lol I just wanted the good deal, and thats what I got. I ended up stopping at a 711 and getting an Arizona green tea along with a small bag of combos (230 calories) and my Pops got a coffee and we went on our way, that was about 2:00 in the afternoon and is the first thing I had eaten since about 10:00 am (a banana with peanut butter) The next time I ate was not until after 6:00 pm and I had a foot long Subway club (660 calories) and I was really hungry for that sandwich, which means my body was wondering where the food was because I am never hungry. oh well, it is what it is.

I think I was dehydrated as well. I came home eight pmish and started drinking and didn't stop until I went to bed (very late) and didn't use the bathroom much. so the large amount of weight dif from Friday may be because of that. I woke up this morning (Sunday) and drank a 32 oz glass of water and could have had more. I really don't know how I could have been dehydrated but I did feel like I was. can't go back now, so I won't worry about it for right now. here is the menu for Saturday day eighty nine, the times listed are not accurate and are only guesses.

03/29/2008

Breakfast
10:00am
1 banana 105
1 tbsp peanut butter 95

Lunch
2:00pm
1 small bag of pizza combos 230

Dinner
6:15pm
1 foot long subway club 660

8:30pm
2 hebrew national hot dogs 90
2 slices whole wheat bread 140

Grand total of 1320 not greatly timed, heavy late in the day calories for the eighty ninth day, I actually have nothing to do today (Sunday) so I may just end up out in the back yard playing with the kiddos, or maybe taking a walk. Thanks for following along with me and have a good Sunday.

Day 88 another Long day...of the Island type

Another late post because of another long day, I won some new leather seats for my Mustang on ebay a week or so ago and woke up this morning (Saturday) and went to pick them up, the seller was on Long Island so to not pay the outrageous shipping charges (which were $120) I decided to take a ride out to pick them up. the seats were $96 bucks (which is a great price for leather seats) and I filled the gas tank up which was $40 bucks (I used 3/4 of a tank to get there and back including a trip to my fathers house since it was on the way) and $11.50 in tolls, so a grand total of $147.50 (if you use the whole $40 for gas) and about 5 hours of my time for a set of Tan leather seats for my other baby, not bad at all if ya ask me. I ate terribly because of this trip, stayed under calories but barely anything in the morning and then dinner was huge..but thats for tomorrows post ;)

Day 88's menu was a decent one but one of much turkey. I had it for breakfast, I had it for lunch, I had it for dinner, lets just say I am all turkied out. I drank much water and green tea, over all a great day. besides spending some more time on my laptop installing some software, it is just about complete now though so I am happy. No exercise to speak of besides some push ups but I am ok with that. I did lose more weight when the ships left port, and I mean a decent amount, I hope it sticks. I usually drop a couple lbs on Saturday but man I hope this one sticks (I will leave the amount for Fridays weigh in, I know I know what a tease) with that I give you the menu for Friday.

03/28/2008

Breakfast
11:30 AM
5oz deli turkey breast 160
3 slices lite rye bread 120
1.5 tbsp Miracle whip 45

1 tbspn peanut butter 95

Dinner
5:00 PM

8:45 PM
2 slices whole wheat bread 140
3oz deli turkey 100
1 tbsp miracle whip 35
8oz 1% milk 110

Grand total of 1475 calories
for the day, included in that was 12oz of turkey breast! can you tell I like the stuff? I have had a bust few days but have found that I am able to stick within the plan even though the day gets loaded up, I guess thats a mile marker so to speak as far as changing habits. I did mess up today (Saturday) but only because I was in the car from 10am till about 6:00 pm (including the visit at Dads house) and most of it was highway driving though southern CT and NY state. either way, I am still here and glad I was able to get this post up.

Day 87 Put it on my tab

She smiled at me as things warmed up, I pushed her in all the right places, and she purred like a kitten. I gave her a little more and things were getting hot now, my hand firmly gripped in just the right spot to keep her going and she smiles again as she goes for one of the most needed rides of her life. Yeah I took the mustang out for a little ride for the first time in 4 months, now I need a cigarette ;) other than that ride I have had an aggravating day. I needed to reinstall the OS on my laptop so I have been at that all night and into today, but its finally done and I am back in business.

Wify rented a movie called Dan in real life, I have to say I enjoyed this movie a lot, it was very funny in a subtle kind of way, Steve Carell and Dane Cook are in it, and like I said it was a good movie, kinda of chick flickish but not so much that it was a "woman movie" I have always liked Steve Carell but man I like him a lot after this flick. 8.5 out of 10 easily in my opinion, My wife enjoyed t as well, I recommend it if you have not seen it yet.

In my earlier quick post I posted that I had lost 3 lbs for the week, I have to be happy with that considering how I did on Easter I didn't even expect that much of a loss. I came in at 1497 calories for this day so pretty good. over all I am still happy with my losses to this point and shall remain on this course until I either hit my ultimate goal or a road block and am forced to change things up. here is the menu for Day eighty seven.

03/27/2008

Thanks for following along.

Weigh in, down 3lbs this week

I just wanted to get the weigh in number in real quick, I have been dealing with an issue with my laptop from late last night and all day today, were almost back up and running 100% so I will post a full post when I complete what I am doing. but as far as the weight goes, I am down 3 lb this week so I am down to 464lbs as of this morning. I am happy for the 3lbs Given that Easter was terrible calorie wise. theres a ship that has been waiting to launch for 2 days now so I will certainly weigh myself after that as well lol. I will get back on here and post a full post ASAP, so until then...

Day 86

Late post for the morning, wify is off from work because of an appt, so we decided to go for an am walk, it was nice walking with her, besides she pushed the stroller so I didn't have to bend over and push it myself! man it sucks being tall at times ;) , it is suppose to rain here starting this afternoon and rain until Saturday so I am glad I got the walk in.

A small addition: As I was writing this post out my phone rang, it was my wify, she was talking to her doc about me and what I am doing to lose weight, she told him how much I have lost and in what time frame, she told him what I do for exercise and the 1500 calories per day, Her docs response was "he is doing exactly what I would tell him to do" he also said that the 1500 calories was a good amount and that it sounded like I am doing everything right. that made me happy, and I thought I would pop that in here as I had not hit the publish button yet. :)

Just one more average day in this long trip to becoming half of who I am. I know that I have said this but I feel like I don't even have to try any more as far as eating correctly. I don't crave anything thats too terribly bad for me, I mean thats not to say I don't want to have some Pizza now and then, but whose to say that I can't? eating to live instead of living to eat is the mantra. during my walk with wify this morning we were talking and I told her that "I appreciate the little things that I am noticing about losing this weight", like the fact that when I first started this thing, I drove my car around the block across the street and it was 1/3 a mile, I would walk that 1/3 mile and feel it. when I got back to the house I knew I had done something, my back was screaming at me, and my feet were telling me to just sit down and I was really done, and now lets take the walk from this morning, it was 30 minutes long, and about 1.5 miles and the only reason we stopped was because wify had to leave for her appt, back was perfectly fine, feet just along for the ride and I honestly wanted to keep walking (which I guess I could have but I figured we got it in we were ok) I do need a pair of running shoes or something to walk in these Shell toed Adidas just aren't cutting it comfort wise ;), another thing that I noticed changed is the fact that I can run up and down the stairs in my home a couple times and still not be winded, this is huge! pre Jan I would walk up stairs and into my bed room and by the time I got there was winded, so I enjoy that fact. my wedding band falls off my hand (not a good thing per se) but the fact that it does means I am smaller so good indeed, I don't know how I feel about resizing it, so we shall see on that one. basically the best way I can say it is that things are looking up as far as my health goes. My belt is too loose again, so its time to punch another hole in it with my leatherman, before I am through this belt will have 10 holes punched in it lol.

The intake for the day was average coming in at 1375 cals, spread out decently and I ate lots of fruit on the eighty sixth day. and over all feeling good about the menu for the day. and here it is.

03/26/2008

Breakfast
7:00 AM
1 banana 105
1 tbsp peanut butter 95

10:30 AM
1 orange 85

12:30 PM
1 banana 105

Lunch

lite progresso soup 120
5 wheat ritz 70

Dinner
6:00 PM
6oz chicken breast 300
3/4 cups cooked white rice 150
2/3 cup frozen fresh corn 100
1 pat butter 35

Grand total of 1375 calories for the day, not too shabby, and as you can see lots of fruit. feeling good and looking forward to tomorrows weigh in. Thank you for following along and hopefully this time next year I will have lost enough weight to feel comfortable posting up a shirtless picture I took on Jan 6th for comparisons sake. just not quite 3 months later and the comparison pics are amazing, I can't imagine what another year will do.

Day 85

6:45 am and the children were screaming downstairs, My son to be more specific, at that hour their voices seem to be amplified by the silence of the rest of the world. thats about 30 minutes earlier than my alarm says I need to get up so its a bit annoying to be awoken that way, I mean what could a person have to scream about that early in the morning? this will have to be remedied as it is happening more often lately...Yawn, now I shall be sleepy all day.

I jumped on the scale as soon as I woke up, I am in a downward direction, but I can't help but feel that I would be much lower if I had not eaten the Easter dinners over the weekend, its gone and nothing can be done so no dwelling, but man, it make a fella realize how important staying on track is. "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." -Buddha- So no worries.

The intake for the eighty fifth day was pretty much on par with what I should be eating barring a Cadbury egg I had after dinner. I was well within calorie limits, coming in at 1405 total, I feel as if I have been neglecting my veggies lately, not really too bad but not as many veggies as I should be having, it shall be adjusted.

Random news story of the day, I saw a story on the news about a 15 year old kid named Billy Wolfe who is getting bullied so much that his parents are suing one of the bullies, she says that the school board is next on the list to get sued, they have some camera phone footage of the kid fighting another kid, and another of a fight on the school bus. I am unsure how I feel about the "suing" part of this story, I mean the school does have a responsibility to stop these sorts of things from happening, and the Bus company/dept of transportation needs to have control on their buses so maybe something needs to be done there, but sue the bully? the bullies parents need to be made aware I think and then at that point if the situation doesn't improve seek alternative measures. I can remember when I was a kid and was dealing with the whole getting called fat by some other kids in school, as you can guess this was very stressful on a kid and I didn't know exactly how to handle it. my father caught wind via a conversation he over heard and stepped in and his statement to me was "The next time he does it punch him in the face, I bet he stops" so the very next time the kid was laughing and carrying on for his buddies and said "hey fat boy" he got popped in the nose as hard as I could (which turned out to be enough to knock him down and bloody his nose) I would guess this to be 5th or 6th grade, and guess what? that kid never had another word to say to me about my weight, and neither did a lot of kids after that. I guess my point is that this world we live in has become a little too PC, I think this kid needs to grow a pair and whack one or two of these so called bullies in the mouth and see how that goes for him, its not like hes a small guy or anything, he was a decent sized kid. oh well..onto the menu lol

Fun with Tuna, a recipe....so to speak

I have not posted any food or recipes on here in a while and noticed that I was eating a lot of Tuna lately, so I thought I would post up how I make it and you can see why I am able to eat it as often as I do. I liked Tuna even before I started this "diet" My father was a fisherman, and would commonly bring home many pounds of fresh caught tuna from Charter boats, so I ate it a lot as a kid as well, I do like the canned stuff a lot too as long as it is solid chunk in water.

We will start with the canned stuff. My basic mixture for a can of tuna is.

1 Can of chunk light tuna in water
1 Tablespoon of miracle whip
1 to 2 oz of finely chopped red onion ( I like more so I use a lot)
black pepper to taste

1) Nothing too mind blowing about this mixture and some of you may even eat it like that already. I mix that up and eat it on whole wheat bread and the sweetness from the onion and the sweetness from the Miracle whip mix and it tastes very light to me. total calories if eaten on wheat and you eat the entire can of tuna is 330.

2) This next Tuna option is kind of weird to me because its the exact same thing as described as above except eaten on wheat ritz crackers, thats it! I place a small amount of that mixture on some wheat ritz crackers and it tastes like crab to me, I think its because of all the sweetness and then the crackers have a buttery taste to them and Faux crab is born...its weird but thats what it tastes like to me. calories depend on how many you make but lets use 10 and if you use the entire can of tuna, the total calories would be the same at 330.

3) Finally there is the tuna melt, funny thing about tuna melts is I never liked them, or so I thought until my wife made them one night a few years ago, I loved it! so when I began this new "diet" I thought welp no more of those (they are covered in butter, filled with cheese and fried after all) but after some looking I figured a whole sandwich cheese, butter and all was 475 calories and that if you use the entire can of tuna, and trust me this thing tastes like something you would get at a restaurant, seriously. I know the melt is a little high in caloric value but seriously, it is very filling and tastes awesome. it consists of the same mixture above and some other stuff.

1 Can of chunk light tuna in water
1 Tablespoon of miracle whip
1 to 2 oz of finely chopped red onion
2 slices of whole wheat bread
1oz Vermont sharp white cheddar
1 pat of butter (split evenly between the bread)
black pepper to taste

Basically what you are going to do is make a tuna sandwich except before you put the tuna on cut a 1oz piece off of your block of cheese and cut it into small slices and place it on the bottom side of the sandwich. spread the pat of butter onto the outside pieces of the bread and fry it up just like a grilled cheese until the cheddar is melted. remove and enjoy, a garlic pickle wedge goes perfectly with this sandwich, and this thing tastes awesome, well worth the calories and the ingredients are not bad for ya (for the most part) total calories for this one would be 475 assuming you eat the whole can of tuna.

One of the Tuna My father caught, this is an old pic a few years old I had, and is a scan of a Polaroid, please excuse the quality. the faces have been blocked out to protect the innocent (namely me) I didn't ask him if I could post this so I decided to block the faces out.

Fresh tuna steaks, ahhh the fresh steaks are good, as I said earlier my Dad would go out on charter boats and come home with fresh tuna and the freezer was stocked up usually with some of that, buttery, garlicky goodness I say. it would normally get broiled or fried, in the spirit of less calories I will give you the broiled version. You will need.

2 lbs of tuna steaks (about 4 steaks)
2 tbsp butter
2-3 tbsp Olive oil
as much garlic as you like ( I use a lot)
black pepper to taste

Mix the butter and oil together and mince the garlic and add that in as well, I like to let it sit for an hour or so, on a warm stove so the butter stays melted, and the garlic flavor gets into the oil, when thats ready coat both sides of each steak with the oil mixture, shake some black pepper onto it and into the broiler it goes, cook the steaks for about 3 minutes on each side and its done, when you take the steaks out brush the rest of the oil mixture over them (optional) and serve while hot. this goes well with a Ceasar salad and rice pilaf. the steak is about 300 calories and the oil, garlic and butter is about 75 calories, assuming its split evenly over the 4 steaks, so if you were to have a 7oz portion of the cooked product (and thats a big piece of fish) it would be roughly 375 calories, which isn't bad at all. this can also be done on a grill or fried and is very good, but since its cold out right now I gave Broiled as the cooking type.

If you try any of this I hope you enjoy it, I know I do! if you try it and don't like it I apologize lol, but I don't think that will happen.

Day 84

Back on track from the worse weekend (food wise) that I have had since starting eating better. I am back under Fridays weight again so I feel better about that. I believe I will end up with a small loss this week, but hey! I enjoyed my weekend without counting and weighing things obsessively and for the most part are no worse off for it.

A while back I stated that I was going to start meditating, well that never really happened except for a few times in the beginning, I plan on revisiting that choice as I am feeling stressed lately, non diet related, just in general. The park up the street that I also mentioned a while back opens back up next week, so I will be able to go there to walk soon, I am very much looking forward to that, the park should be pretty much empty except for the random elderly person or person on a bike, basically what I am getting at is it should be enjoyable. I think its safe to say I have found my groove and am on cruise control with this new way of eating.

lately to pass the time and relax I have been playing my guitar a lot. the music of the week is Pink Floyd, wify is very into them and I like them so why not. this concludes todays broadcast. here is the menu for your reading delight.

Days 82 & 83 The Easter dump an Epic post.

Monday morning after D day or should I say E day, armies of chocolate bunnies carrying out orders from the top brass to tempt and devastate. Cadbury eggs a plenty and Huge meals of Ham, potatoes, and fat fill cheesy treats, the healthiest thing that was eaten at dinner on either of the 2 weekend days this week was the strawberries, and they were slathered with whipped cream and frozen yogurt, it was a bad weekend food wise, Saturday started off as normal as any other day since starting, it quickly went south when we went to my mother in laws for dinner. I tried to stay within reason with what I took, and for the most part I think I did ok at her house, all though I did not count or measure the food. She had ham, green beans, the red potatoes that I enjoy so much , a salad, butternut squash, a birthday type Easter cake, and more, thats just what I took. as I said I did not measure any of it or even try to figure out calories, honestly I didn't care at that point, I wanted to enjoy the meal. BUT Me being me as soon as I got home I estimated within the closest numbers the calories for the meal. if my numbers are not off by too much I actually didn't do too bad, but I am sure I missed some ingredients, My Mother in law is usually good about cooking it within our limits so I may not be off as much as I think. anyways, here is the menu for Saturday, just remember that the dinner number are estimates, the amount as well as the calories.

Sargent Bun E. Rabbit leading the charge.

03/22/2008

Breakfast
11:00 AM
10 wheat ritz crackers 140
1 slice whole wheat bread 70
1 can tuna 160
1 tbsp miracle whip 35

Lunch
3:00 PM
1 can progresso light soup 120
5 wheat ritz cracker 70

Dinner
6:15 PM
7oz spiral ham 420
1 cup green beans 50
5oz red potato 135
tiny slice of yellow cake 220
green salad 50
lite ceasar dressing 90
4 jelly beans 40

Grand total of 1600 even, estimated calories for the day, not real bad but not good either.

And then there was Sunday, woke up, the kids looked for eggs left around the living room by the Easter bunny and we had a nice big breakfast cooked by wify, the kids had pancakes, eggs and turkey bacon, I had an omelet with turkey bacon, onions, cheese and tomatoes al la egg beaters, and wify made herself an egg on a bagel, it was a great breakfast. I also had a Cadbury egg at 7:30 in the morning while the kids looked for their eggs. Lunch was an average lunch and then We drove an hour and forty five minutes with much protest from me, to Boston to have Easter dinner with some of wifys family. I decided on the way that I would just screw the whole diet thing again for dinner because I didn't feel like dealing with figuring out what was what and making people decipher what went into the dishes they brought. I was not happy about this decision, but it was done and that was that. I did not count anything but only had one plate and I am 100% sure I busted the calorie limit for the day by a huge amount with this meal, there was honey baked spiral ham, some sort of cheesy mashed potatoes, a stuffing and broccoli casserole that my father in law brought, some sort of mashed cauliflower dish, and my wifes Famous Green bean casserole (when I say famous I can't ever remember a time that someone has tried it and did not ask for the recipe afterwards, it I truly one of the best sides I have ever eaten) thats what was on my plate, dessert was strawberries and blueberries over Vanilla frozen yogurt and whipped cream, all of the food was great, but I have no clue of the calories, the green bean casserole alone will have surely brought me way above acceptable levels, I will post the recipe at a later time, even though it is not a low calorie meal by any means, we got a walk in after dinner, there was a lake not far away from where we were so we walked down to the lake and through the woods, it was a nice walk. Then I started in on we should get going, which took almost an hour to materialize into movement towards the car. long story short (if thats possible at this point in the story) we ended up driving almost 3 hours home because of the Holiday traffic, this is why I wanted to leave earlier but what do I know? ;) we drove for 4.5 hours for a not quite 4 hour visit....I was not happy at that point. over all it was a good time and the dinner was great. here is the menu for Sunday, all but dinner is listed, I honestly have no cue how I would calculate the calories so I won't pretend to try.

So did I as far as calories go this weekend.

Grand total of enough to feed 2 people
I am sure, but whatever, I have to have a meal like this from time to time, the portion I had was within my limit, I had 1 plate of regular sized portions, it was the content within that killed me on calories for the day and my weight is up this morning from Fridays number :( . I hope everyone else had a good holiday, and I apologize for the especially large sized post.

Day 81

Things are what they are and they are all good at this point, I cannot complain, a huge amount of weight is not on me any more and its all ok. this morning post has turned into this evenings post, I just got back from my Mother in laws house, we were invited for dinner, which I did not count any of the portions, I simply went off of what I know is a serving by the way it looked, I did have a tiny piece of cake as desert.

as far as the menu I am posting for day 81 goes its about 200 calories short and was only 4 times eating, I don't feel great about that but what can I do the day is gone, so whatever. I did in fact hit the second part of the goal that I set for myself for Easter, the first part was to be under 479lbs, which I did a while back, so I added a second part which was to be 465 by Easter, and I woke up this morning and I was 465.2 so I call that a win. I am happy about that fact.

I wanted to get a post up here today because I am not sure I will make it on tomorrow, I will certainly try to but because of the Holiday, who knows. so if not I hope you all have a happy Easter, don't eat too much Candy now.

Happy Easter!!!

with that here is the menu.

1 cup cooked white rice 200

Day 80 weighing in

Well well well. here we have it, weigh in day is here again. last week I was 473 lbs. I lost in this week the same amount that I had lost in the last 2 weeks, I weighed in at 467.2 lbs this morning, so we shall call it 467 lbs, I have made it into the 60's! thats a 6lb loss for this week, I am very happy about that, yesterday I weighed in at 466.6 lbs in the afternoon, and I was up late last night we rented I am legend and watched it, so likely I am less that 467 but I won't argue with the scale.

over all everything is going well and I am feeling positive about this. I am 2 lb off of my goal to hit 465 by Easter, I would be willing to bet that by Sunday morning I will hit that goal. I will update you all if I do make it. I did have a cadbury creme egg last night, but only because I hit my original goal of 479 by easter, it was not as good as I thought it would be. don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it! lol. so I reset the goal to 465 by Easter, stay tuned for that one.

This 2007 Yamaha Phazer weighs in at 467 lbs.

with that here is the menu.

03/20/2008

Breakfast
10:00 AM
2 fiber 1 whole wheat english muffins 200
2oz sliced tomato 10
1 tbsp miracle whip 35

Lunch
2:00 PM
1 can progresso soup 180
1 Zone perfect bar 210
crystal light 20

Dinner
6:30 PM
6oz light deli turkey 150
3 slices whole wheat bread 210
1.5 tbsp Miracle whip 50
1oz light restaurant style corn chips 90
1 tbsp salsa 5

7:15 PM
Cadbury Crème Egg 150

11:30 PM
1 tbsp butter 100
whole gang of popcorn 200

Grand total of 1610 calories for the day, I did go over by about 100, but I didn't count the popcorn and one of the stipulations of the creme eggs was that they would not count towards my daily caloric intake so I actually stayed below calories by those terms. BUT since I did eat it, I listed it in my intake. either way I earned the eggs dammit! lol

Shopping list

We had a little shopping trip and I thought I would toss up a pic of some of the things we bought, maybe to give some of you ideas on some things you might not have known about or use. From left to right, the big jug is the Arizona Green tea that I drink constantly, we buy 3 jugs at a time which only last 3-4 days, as you can see it didn't even last before I took the pic. then below in the Pinkish colored can is my Gunpowder tea, also Green tea, just the type that I brew myself, it tastes the best of all of the teas I have tried, Next in line is Molly McButter, this is a new product for us, it was recommended by Robyn one of the people I met whilst blogging, Next is the Hodgson mill whole wheat buttermilk pancake mix, this is also a new one for us, my son has been eating pancakes for breakfast a lot so were trying it out, lastly is my Zone perfect bars, they are great for when I am low on calories for the day, they are good and not bad for ya and have 210 of decently good calories. I have no real reason for this post other than I took the pictures, enjoy.

Some say that you can balance an egg on end during the Spring equinox which was today, welp I had to try it and as you can see it worked, BUT I am very certain that this is possible on any given day, look in the future for more egg balancing acts, as I am out to show that it can be done on any day.

I just wanted to get a post in for the evening, hope ya enjoyed my randomness. tomorrow morning is the weigh in so look for a good number ;)

An afternoon update

I changed a few things about the side bar, not a lot but changes none the less. I took the poll away (I got what I needed from it, thanks to those who voted), I also took the daily exercise counters away. honestly it was just too much work to update every time I worked out, I usually post the exercise in the posts anyways so it was Redundant to boot. something I added is a weight by month area on the side bar, I used my estimated start weight (which I believe to be higher than I posted but I will leave it at 534) I left the ticker set at 512lbs because its when I added it as well as my first 100% confirmed weight. so each month I will add the weight that I was on the closest weigh in day to the end of that month, along with how much was lost that month.

I also want to say that I have not taken Lecithin in more than 2 weeks, I didn't feel that it was helping and it was when I was taking it full swing that I had the lowest loss since starting, I am unsure if it is related but I stopped taking it anyways. I now only take it if I have a particularly fatty meal.

I have not exercised one bit this week except for random push ups here and there, I feel guilty for it but I have yet to find a vendor that sells a pedal for my bike, and it has been windy, cold, and raining all week so I haven't had a chance for walks. It doesn't seem to be affecting the loss I have to say, because I have lost as much weight this week as I did in the last two weeks, you will have to wait until the morning for exactly how much that is though ;) with that I shall end this post.

Day 79

Zipity doo da, and the band plays on. a quote to start the day off "The best preparation for tomorrow is to do today's work superbly well." -Sir William Osler- this defines me currently. As everyone knows I am almost 500 lbs, if I expect to see instant results I will fail. don't get me wrong I do see results, my clothing fits better, I feel better blah blah blah, BUT I am not instant oatmeal, I am not going to be amazingly svelte in a few weeks, its just not gonna happen. so whats a fella to do? welp the only thing that can be done, push through anything that comes my way and stay on the path of the straight and narrow where my eating and health is concerned. Boom! its crystal clear and has been for a while now that this is what I need to do to stay healthy and be around for a very long time. Things are great and weight is falling, my wife looks incredible because she is following the same regimen that I am (almost) and we both feel better. I don't know where I heard it but I once heard someone say "I can't lose 100 lbs" and then a response was "but I can lose 10 lbs 10 times" hmmmm that makes sense.

I write in this blog daily and I eat good foods every day along with exercise, and I take a photo every 2 weeks. I photo shop the new picture each week next to the original picture that was taken on Jan 6 2008, I looked at the picture from last weekend next to the one from Jan and I have to admit there is a noticeable difference. but the difference that I am most impressed with is the fact that I do not get out of breath walking around any more, so there are a ton of benefits to this thing besides just being smaller.

Hope is the last thing a person does before they are defeated, is something Henry Rollins said, I feel this statement couldn't be truer. a person can hope or wish or just plain old want something real bad and guess what...it ain't gonna happen unless you just do it. I have come to this realization where my weight is concerned and I will not hope I lose weight any more, I will just work at it until its gone. I will not fail.

with that I give you the menu.

Day 78 V2.0

Sometimes ya gotta just do what needs doing. I feel that I have done just that in the past few months, people want to find that miracle pill or miracle program that just melts the pounds away, and I have come to the realization that it just does not exist. are there supplements that can help? sure, is there a way to eat that makes it so? indeed there is. BUT I feel that a success is only as good as what gets put into it. in the past I have said that I need to lose weight and then done nothing about it. what is working is a moderate intake and trying to eat the right foods and basically not giving in to any temptations that may show themselves to me. its funny actually, the more I just do it the more weight falls off. no more hoping it just happens, no more wishing..you do know what they say about wishing right? wish into one hand and shit into the other and see which one fills up first. we all know the answer to that one, now if you take the wishing and hoping out of the equation and add determination and just plain old willpower and hard work? bamn! results. much like the rest of life, when you do the work you get results. now thats not to say that I am not going to hit slow spots, or "plateaus" but the keep on keepin on has to stay in full affect for this to work.

I have made a few friends through this whole process so far and some have even emailed me or left comments here saying that I have inspired them to follow suit and lose some weight as well, that is just a bonus to the fact that I am healthier, happier and lighter than I have been in a while. energy levels are up, there is no more getting winded walking up to the second floor of my house, and a whole pile of things that I am sure I don't even notice making things better.

This morning I had written a very long blog entry and as I was signing it with "As Ever Me" I deleted the post before I could post it accidentally, so this is actually a lite version of what I had intended to post (forgot a lot of what I had written) so here is its replacement with basically the same messages just shorter versions of.

This is how I feel when I make mistakes like deleting an epic sized post

Day 77

An average day in the life of a fella losing weight, minus the exercise...I have not really exercised this week at all, its been cold and windy outside so the walks have taken a back seat and I still do not have a pedal for my bike. I am in fact still on track with intake. I had 1312 total calories for the day but 155 of that came at mid night, which brings up my other point, I have been going to bed very late all week. 2am on the weekend and now last night around 1am and I am up by 7am so thats not exactly a lot of sleep. the last time I neglected sleep I lost very little weight that week. I need to get this back on track. its Conan Obrien's fault I tell ya. yesterday was St Patty's day as we all know and I thought to myself "I bet Conan has a good show with him being Irish and all" so I stayed up...I need to stop that crap. otherwise it was an average day like I said.

here is the menu for the day.

Day 75 & day 76

For the first time since writing this blog I skipped a day of writing in it, things have been busy and I just didn't get a change to do it Sunday, so I will post up the intake for Saturday and then Sunday in one post, sorry if it turns into a longer than usual post. Here is the intake for Saturday, I ended up with 1410 calories for the day.

03/15/2008

Breakfast
11:30 AM
2 boiled eggs 140

Lunch
1:30 PM
2 slices lite rye bread 100
4oz deli turkey breast 140
1 tbsp miracle whip 35
8oz chopped watermelon 75

4:30 PM
1 banana 105
1 tbsp peanut butter 95

Dinner
6:00 PM
2 gortons fish fillets 340
1 cup fresh frozen peas 105
3/4 cup cooked white rice 150
1 pat butter 35

8:00 PM
1 orange 90

Grand total of 1410 calories for Saturday.

Like I said I have been busy here with some things I needed to get done. but the loss continues in a downward direction so I am happy with that, I did not get any what I would call exercise over the weekend besides some random push ups here and there. things are over all going well for me with the weight loss. I am very happy with my results thus far. My wife showed me a picture of myself from August of last year and man! talk about a difference, I am wearing a shirt in the pic that fits me way too big right now and I can honestly say when I look at that pic I am happy that I chose to take on this challenge of dropping the excess weight. maybe when I lose a bit more weight I will be brave enough to post the picture up. not a whole lot of people that are not close friends or family have seen the old pics of me and I look forward to reaching goal and making a side by side of them with the old pics.

I think I am settling into a rhythm and feel like this is how I must live to keep on living, its not a task to eat like this and its not a task to get in the exercise. its becoming a way of life and I believe that is why its successful for me at this point. I do not crave sweets, I do not crave fatty foods and actually feel a little guilty if I slip up, saying guilt is not really how I feel maybe more of an awareness I don't know exactly how to say it other than that. I know whats bad for me and whats good for me and I know how to get it into my body in moderation. I can say with 100% certainty that where my food intake and exercise concerned that I am a different person that I was just 3 months ago.

When I first started with this change I thought to myself "How am I going to stick to this" and now I think to myself "Why did this take so long". over all I am satisfied with my results and know that I am healthier for what I have done. and with that here is the Menu for Sunday.

Day 74, What's the most you've ever lost on a coin toss?

Another day gone and some more pounds down. feeling good about the intake although I did go over slightly for this day, we rented No country for old men and I had some popcorn late in the evening which brought me over 1500 a tad. I bought my daughter a Beta fish last night and had a run in with a Cadbury creme egg at Michaels, but I won that exchange...this time, short weekend post again I am afraid, we are cataloging some old die cast cars that I have had forever today because I may be selling them but I wanted to get a post up here with the menu etc etc etc, so here it is.

Don't put it in your pocket. It's your lucky quarter, Where you want me to put it?, Anywhere not in your pocket. Or it'll get mixed in with the others and become just a coin. Which it is

Day 73, weighing in and a small milestone

So, it seems that I get to be in a great mood today, my weight has dropped for the week by an amount that I am happy with. after the last couple weeks I set myself up for a 1lb loss being ok with me, and to my surprise I got that 1 lb loss plus some more. I weighed in at 473 this morning, thats a 4lb loss from last Friday. I think the fact that I have been going on walks each day at a faster pace because of bringing the stroller for my daughter instead of walking at her speed is making a difference. I don't want to speak too soon, but I am hoping that this rate stays and am thinking that maybe changing the exercise routine may be to blame, if it happens next week again I will say its so. until then I am happy with the 4lb loss and will still only expect a 1-2lb loss for next week.

You may be wondering what the milestone I mentioned in the title is, or maybe not. But if you are, it is the fact that I have Less than 200 lbs to go now! instead of 202lbs its 198lbs! this may seem insignificant but it is huge for the head and seeing a 1 as the front number makes a difference, its been sort of a silent goal for me. so all in all it is a good morning for me so far.

This 2004 GSX1300R weighs in at 473lbs

The menu for the 73rd day was average as far as the intake goes, I did eat a bigger than usual dinner but it was because I wanted to get more protein in so I stacked up on the chicken and pork that we had. it was leftover night because the refrigerator was accumulating lots of small plastic bowls and foil covered things. all in all it was good. I won't bore you with my intake any further, except of course besides posting the menu, so here it is.

03/13/2008

Breakfast
8:30 AM
1 banana 105
1 tbsp peanut butter 95

Day 72

The fella on the news said it was suppose to rain yesterday so I went out for a walk early in the day, it ended up at 1.2 miles in about 23 minutes, so thats a nice pace I think. it ended up not really raining but a few mistings trough out the day. it was very windy and my daughter picked a very odd path to walk on, I am enjoying the walks more and more, it was suggested to me by someone to walk 1.5 miles per day working on up to 3 miles, this sounds close to what I was going to do anyways so its a plan. I am still trying to locate a pedal for my stationary bike with no results, all of the pedals I have found are too short. so the search goes on.

Random news story for the day, I have been watching the news and saw that Gov. Eliot Spitzer has resigned because of a call girl Ashley Alexandra Dupre or "Kristen" that he apparently paid $4300 to be with! Thats nuts! so for a night of fun and a payment of $4300 he loses his career, and quite possibly his wife. insanity at its best. imagine how many times he has done this at that price and did not get caught out? wow who wouldda thunk lol. out of curiosity I searched for her myspace page and she is an aspiring musician, hmmmm free publicity? she got the better end of that whole deal I think. She is a very average pretty girl looking chick, I think She is an ok looking girl I guess but $4300?? lol welp I guess some people have their priorities a bit mixed up. anyways heres a couple pics of her that were on myspace.

Ashley Alexandra Dupre or "Kristen" of Gov. Eliot Spitzer fame

Yeah buddy I bet your grin looked something like that on the night in question.

Ok so back to me. over all the day went fine, I kept the intake under 1500 and I drank 1 gallon of green tea, wow! thats alotta green tea! and another 3/4 gallon of water throughout the day. I think the water intake will help keep my metabolism up along with the tea. the push ups come easier lately, I do about 60 per day during my workout, and then throughout the day I will just do some randomly. I have been playing the guitar mucho lately as well, Pink Floyd to be exact. I learned "Wish you were here" yesterday, its an easy song really but good one so ;). anyways onto the menu before this turns into a gigantic post.

03/12/2008

Breakfast
8:15 AM
1 banana 105
1 lite dannon yogurt 60

10:30 AM
1 boiled egg (beet egg) 75

Lunch
12:30 PM
1 can south west chicken soup progresso 240
1oz tings 160

2:30 PM
1 pear 80

Dinner
6:45 PM
3/4 cup cooked white rice 150
1 cup canned corn 120
7oz roasted chicken breast 350

8:00 PM
1 dannon lite yogert 60

Grand total of 1400 calories for the day, so just 100 under goal, so right on schedule as far as I am concerned for now. I am not going to alter what I am eating just yet. I want to give it a week or two to see what happens, after all this is an experiment as well as a life change. Thank you for reading, even my randomness from yesterday, as always it is appreciated.

Day 71 what is the secret of your power?

High above the mucky-muck castle made of clouds, there sits wonderboy sitting oh so proudly, this is how I feel at times since I have started this whole thing. not much to say when your high above the mucky-muck, but when you fall below and its getting into ya a bit that changes things. I have to stay above because so far so good and I am 100% healthier and much lighter than I have been in years. a bad week or 2 going to get to me? maybe momentarily, but if I let it last any longer than that I shall be doomed, now it's time for me to tell you about young nastyman arch-rival and nemesis of wonderboy with powers comparable to wonderboy! what powers you ask? how about the power of flight? that do anything for ya? that's levitation Holmes! No seriously, I have felt like I can fly lately, seemingly unstoppable in my trip to the half. but alas a roadblock has presented itself to me in the form of a slow down, and I can either take it as it is, which is something I knew would happen eventually or I can let it get me down, I don't think I will let it get me down. how 'bout the power to kill a yak? from two hundred yards away! with mind bullets! that's telekinesis Kyle! or maybe just a low in a sea of high spots from the front row. ahhh yes thats it thats what I will do. young nasty man may not have his way with me, for I am wonderboy and I say so, how 'bout the power...to move you?

random or makes sense, either way nothing is going to get me down or stop me. might my loss slow? indeed. might it stop me? Neva! I have decided that I am in charge now, I am the one that makes it happen, I am the man behind the curtain. it will happen on my terms and I will not let negativity into this thing that I am doing. I had a bad day, we all have bad days, but that bad day won't dictate my week or my month, its done and now I have to figure out what I can do about it. raising my calories? more exercise? change the types of food I eat? or maybe I am just having an off week, I don't know yet but I will know. with that I give you the menu.

S.O.S random going nuts post

Ok, so far I seem solid as a rock, the one to go to for a steady as she goes attitude. welp, Bamn! I just hit a wall. the last couple days I have been feeling off. I feel like something is not working for me currently. I eat between 1300-1500 calories per day, I try and spread that intake out evenly through out the day, I get exercise in almost daily, I have been dropping weight like its going out of style, has it ever really been in style?. two weeks ago I dropped 2lbs and the following week it was 4lb so seemingly in the right direction, I weigh as much today as I did Friday, no gain no loss. Sunday morning I was three lbs less than I was on Friday. I have been online pretty much all day trying to figure out whats going on with me, which my wifes conclusion is that I need to up my calories, This doesn't seem right to me and at the very same time it seems exactly right. "if you refuse to eat more calories then thats an eating disorder" were her words. I don't know if I am just feeling off because of a bad weekend or if I have hit a barrier that needs to be dealt with. For me this blog is about accountability and being honest with myself so I felt like I should post this quandary of mine on here. I just finished dinner and physically full but I feel hungry (more proof my wife says that I need more calories) I feel like that is the answer as well, BUT I cannot make myself eat more calories just yet, this is the most weight that I have lost in my entire life and I do not want to see a positive number go onto my bottom line just yet. I have some thinking to do about upping the calories because I know that what wify said is likely true, she got the idea from things I have said to her, she says that I can nit pick her but when it comes to me I cannot. I will likely delete this post, maybe not though. I don't know I just thought I would write it down. ahhhh told ya random and goin nuts.

Day 70

"The beginning is the most important part of the work" -Plato- I heard that a long time ago and it makes more sense to me than it ever has, habits are formed and paths chosen are the most profitable for me where my health is concerned in the past couple of months. I was thinking about this last night, I went for a walk through the neighborhood with the whole family. as I walked I thought about just this past summer, a time that I was at a park that I had been going to since I was a child, my father made the suggestion that we walk past the barrier blocking the road to a bridge that has been closed since I was young, so we agreed and half way to the bridge my back was beginning to hurt (injury hurt) but what I didn't tell him or my wife was that I was just plain old getting tired too. so we turned around and walked back to a picnic bench, why I mention this is because that bridge is only 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the barrier where the car was parked and now I am walking more than a mile at a time and the only reason that I stop is because of my daughter having enough. so I do believe that the beginning IS the most important part of work. when I started writing this post today I didn't know how to start it so I just started typing and this came out. I can honestly say that I am physically stronger than I was just two and a half months ago.

Intake was good for the day other than I went over the 1500 mark by a few coming in at 1547 cals for the day. I ended up going to bed at 10:30 so I got a good amount of sleep last night yet I still feel tired from the weekend. as mentioned earlier in this post I did go for a walk last night, we ended up walking 1 mile, I didn't time it but it was a good pace, and came home and did 60 push ups and no stretches because it was after dinner and the family was here so we were doing other things. over all a pretty decent day. my weight this morning is higher than yesterday morning but thats just the normal fluctuation I believe so no worries, as long as its a loss by Friday I will be happy.

Day 69 bad day for intake.

Well well well, this day was a very bad day as far as taking care of myself, I got maybe 1 quarter the fluid that I should have, I had coffee, and I ate 2 snack wraps from Mcdonalds. I knew the day wouldn't be the greatest because we had planned on not being home all day, add the fact that it was daylights savings and we were screwed up all day. our time was all mixed up we ended up eating late and I had a more than 5 hour gap between Lunch and dinner with no snack in between. I was offered Tagalongs and chocolate covered cherries and I did not accept either. I told my wife as we pulled into the Mcdonalds parking lot, "I am not posting a menu for this day on my blog haha" and she said "you should do it anyways, accountability ya know" so here you have it. I think I still need to stay accountable and honest for this to work for me so here you have it.

In my previous post I said that I picked up some wheels and tires from my cousin, they are the style that have 2 sets of lug patterns built into them so I will attempt to mount them on my wifes car because 1) My car already has after market wheels, 2) the new wheels are black and my car is Dark forest green, so I don't know how that will look together. also I stayed up until 2:30 am so I am very tired this morning. so all in all I think I will have another challenging day today given everything from yesterday, it feels like 30 hours were squeezed into the last 24 to me, I over all feel like crap this morning. I will likely head off to bed early tonight and skip the exercise for the day purely because of the fact that I just don't think its healthy to push myself when I have had 3 to 3.5 hours sleep after a long day of not so good intake/exercise etc. but who knows, I may decide that walk is a good thing. tomorrow is a new day that will begin on a better foot and stay in the right direction.

I will leave you with the menu and I believe that I will be attempting to do a lot of reading and possibly more posts in the blog today to keep me aware and give me something to do as like I said I am really beat today. I feel like I was out all night drinking with the boys. dry mouth, tired a bit disoriented because of the lack of sleep and a bit achy lol so exactly like a night out drinking.

Grand total of 1330 not so healthy calories for the day, I feel dehydrated and groggy, I am going to try and eat as cleanly as possible today (Monday) and I told my wife last night when the decision to eat at Mchell, "its just life happening" nothing I can do about it. sometimes these things are going to happen and we may be forced to eat at a not so healthy place. I don't think the choice in food was the best, but I do think it could have been much worse. with that, its behind me and as long as theres a loss this week I am happy.

Day 68 a very late post for the day.

I almost forgot to post today (Sunday) , we woke up early and loaded up everybody into my Mother in laws borrowed Jeep Cherokee and went down to my aunts and cousins house for the day. it was a very long day with a terrible menu, I am considering not posting it honestly, lets just say that Mcdonalds is involved, Doh! I am under calories but still. My cousin totaled his car so he gave me the wheels and tires off of it before he gets rid of it, thats why we borrowed the Cherokee. so I have a new set of wheels and tires for the Mustang, the only thing is that they are black and my car is dark green so I don't know how it would look. hmmm maybe wifys car..

Day 67

The walking continues, on this day the walk was just under 1.3 miles at the new and improved faster rate of speed. I can feel it in my Calves and middle of my back a bit, the good kind of feel though, just like work has been done. I am enjoying the walks more now that I have decided to put the little one in the stroller for them. we walk and when we get to a intersection she says "daddy dat way!" and points and thats the way we go, Driving Miss Daisy like.

We had my Father in law over for dinner, I cooked a lean pork loin roast, it came out pretty good, all in all a good day. I will keep this post short because wify needs some help around the house so heres the menu for the day.

Day 66 and weigh in.

I have dropped lower in weight than I have been in about 5-6 years. I hit my 2nd goal, that goal was to get under 479 lbs. I also went for a walk on day 66 and I put my little one in her stroller and walked 1 mile in 18 minutes so thats slightly more than 3MPH for almost 20 mins, I think I have found the answer to my broken bike pedal, as long as the weather holds up. something I noticed during the walk is that my jeans kept falling down, even with a belt so I struggled to keep them up which made for an uncomfortable walk, but it also meant that I must be losing more weight so it was a good uncomfortable feeling. I came home and just for fun tried a pair of jeans on that were 1 size smaller and low and behold they fit! so I am down 3 pants whole sizes now since starting. also I posted a photo up in the beginning of starting this blog and I tried the shirt that I am wearing in that picture on and it just about fit! I could wear it out if I wanted to and it would probably be unnoticeable that it was slightly too small. its been a good week for me all around, I have come to terms with the fact that 7-8lbs will not drop off per week and I have to be good with that, and I thank the people that have emailed me on this subject, it helped.

Total loss for this week is 4lbs so I am down to 477lbs at wake up time today, now I gotta say I have not had a launch at the docks since Wednesday, so I am probably a little less than 477 but it is what the scale says it is on wake up on Fridays ;) so 477 it is. I am happy with that number. besides did I mention that its the lightest I have been in 5 years? oh yeah I did :)

My next goal will be to get to 460 lbs, I will take a few baby steps with some goals as it seems that its coming off slower than in the very beginning, and I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. so 460 is a 17lb loss from today. I will see my cousin and an aunt and uncle this weekend for the first time since Christmas and I am very curious to see if they notice the weight loss. they all know that I have lost weight but have not seen me so I am curious to see the reactions. this is turning into a long post so I will cut it off here. and give you the menu along with my item that weighs 477lbs.

This 1974 GT550 weighs 477 lbs

Grand total of 1245 calories for the day, I have to say I am happy with my losses to date and know I am bettering myself and my family because I will be around a long time because of this change. I just wish that I had done this a long time ago, something dawned on me as I wrote this last part of the post, I was not happy with living in CA for the past 8 years, maybe that contributed to the weight not coming off but going up, now that I am "Home" back in New England maybe something clicked inside me and its why I am successful so far, I will have to give that some thought. either way Thanks for following.

Day 65

I find myself settling into a groove because of the low loss for last week, I realize that its cool if I lose only 2 lbs in a week. a loss is a loss is a loss is the way I am going to look at it. I am struggling a bit this week because I cannot ride my bike, someone suggested that I get a workout DVD to replace the bike when it is not possible to ride etc, I will look into that because not riding is literally driving me nuts. I ran up and down the stairs 7 times (harder that I thought it would be) and did my push ups, and I did a weight lifting routine for day 65 to get some movement in, I was sweating and my heart rate was up from the stairs. I wouldn't call it Cardio but it was movement and I can feel it in my shoulders a bit this morning so I am happy with my improvised workout.

The weather will be warm soon and then I can go out on walks with my daughter more often and not worry about the bike so much, I do think I will start bringing something for her to ride in/on so that I can walk at a faster pace, or carry her for half of the walk, after all if I add my weight to hers I weigh less than when I started, even with carrying her and if I was able to do it then I should be able to do it now with that weight. she carries my wifes little pink 2lb weights around and says "look dada ecsise me" so habits are being formed and I like that. My son and I were talking the other day and I asked him if he could do 60 push ups (as this is how many I have been doing daily) and he dropped to the floor and started going at it. I think both of my children are benefiting from My new lifestyle change, they see Dad doing it and they want to do it too, This makes me happy.

Random pic of the day

Over all its a good week besides the non exercise bit. I will try and get out for a walk today (Thursday) it is very sunny out currently but I don't know how cold it is so that will determine whether I get a walk or not, the kiddo complains if its windy, wet, cold, hot, or snowing lol so I need to watch all that stuff to make a decision. with that I give you the menu.
